A trained facial action is intended to open a listening window. A usable residual facial signal is required.

The trained task may involve attempting to close a hand, even if it cannot move. We are evaluating detection of the associated EEG pattern as a click.

Speak

The intended workflow uses selections to build a message from letters, words or symbols and play it aloud.

Optional eye navigation can be explored by users who can control their gaze. Eye-free navigation and EEG selection must be evaluated together for the individual.

In the staged approach under evaluation, a facial action opens the listening window and a recognised movement-related EEG pattern is intended to make a selection.

01 / Facial activation

A deliberate start signal.

A trained jaw, eyebrow or cheek action provides the activation signal. Wearable sensors capture the associated muscle activity (EMG) and EEG.

Using this action to open a window is intended to reduce the need to repeat an effortful facial action for each selection.

02 / EEG click

A trained movement task.

For example, try to close your hand—even if the hand cannot move. Central electrodes are used to record movement-related EEG during the task; a usable pattern must be established individually.

We are evaluating conversion of a recognised pattern to a click within the active window. Signal quality, individual training and exclusion of interfering signals matter.

The goal: use the facial action to open a window, then make selections with trained EEG clicks inside it.

EMG: muscle activity. EEG: electrical activity recorded at the scalp. This staged approach is under evaluation; our team will confirm the prototype version and functions that can be demonstrated in your session.

Early MindClick research platform

We welcome AAC dealers, speech therapists and research organisations interested in exploring our early MindClick platform. Proposed research examines control signals, electrode configurations, usability and customisation needs.

Participant testing requires an agreed research framework and the applicable regulatory, ethics and consent arrangements. Early kits are not offered for routine patient care or onward patient supply.

Does “click with your brain” mean thought-to-speech?

No. MindClick recognises a trained control pattern and converts it to a click. It does not read free-form thoughts or automatically generate the sentence you are thinking of.

What if I have difficulty controlling my eyes?

Eye navigation is optional in the development approach. An eye-free workflow is not assumed suitable for everyone. Navigation and selection need to be evaluated together within the applicable research arrangements.

Do I need to be able to move my hand?

The attempted-hand-movement task does not require the hand to move. A usable EEG pattern still needs to be established individually. The staged approach also requires a usable facial activation signal.

Can our team become a research partner?

We welcome AAC dealers, speech therapists and research organisations interested in exploring our early MindClick platform. Proposed research examines control signals, electrode configurations, usability and customisation needs. Participant testing requires an agreed research framework and the applicable regulatory, ethics and consent arrangements. Early kits are not offered for routine patient care or onward patient supply.

Which functions and wearable will be available?

Our team will confirm the prototype configuration, permitted activities and practical arrangements before your session. A demonstration booking is not a study enrolment. Earlier videos may show different headsets.
