Is MindSpeaker / MindClick CE-marked for the proposed medical communication use?
The MindSpeaker/MindClick configuration presented here is under development. Clinical and usability evaluation is not yet complete, and it is not CE-marked under the EU Medical Device Regulation for the proposed communication use. It is not available for routine patient use. Participant testing requires the applicable research arrangements and permissions.
Does “Research Use Only” permit routine patient use?
No. A research label does not authorise routine patient care or remove applicable medical-device requirements. Participant testing requires a defined research purpose, protocol and the applicable regulatory, ethics and consent arrangements.
What is the difference between MindSpeaker and MindClick?
MindSpeaker is the communication platform for building and speaking messages. MindClick is a wearable-signal controller that turns a recognised, trained control pattern into a click.
How does the staged approach work?
We are evaluating a staged approach in which a deliberate facial action opens a listening window, followed by trained movement-related EEG selections. The intended output is a message built from letters, words or symbols. Performance in the intended patient population remains under evaluation.
Does MindClick read my thoughts or generate speech directly?
No. It recognises a trained control pattern, not free-form thoughts. You choose the words or symbols in your message.
Do I need to be able to move my hand?
The attempted-hand-movement task does not require the hand to move. A usable EEG pattern must still be established individually. The staged approach also requires a usable facial activation signal.
Suitability & everyday use
Do I have to use eye tracking?
Eye navigation is optional in the development approach. EyeNav and dwell selection are options for users who can control their gaze. An eye-free workflow is not assumed suitable for everyone; navigation and selection require evaluation together.
Is MindClick suitable for everyone with a speech disorder?
No. Residual actions, EEG patterns, electrode contact, comfort and fatigue can vary, including among people with the same diagnosis. Suitability and performance are still being evaluated. Any individual participant assessment must follow the applicable research arrangements.
Which headset will I use?
There is no universal headset recommendation. We are evaluating specific hardware/software configurations. Each demonstration or study must use the configuration and activities permitted for that setting.
What happens if the EEG signal is poor?
The setup and electrode contact need to be checked using the selected headset’s instructions. A spoken caregiver prompt is planned as part of our support roadmap; our team will explain what is available in the current configuration.
Does a demonstration replace a clinical assessment?
No. A prototype demonstration introduces development work; it is not a medical assessment or a confirmation of suitability. A booking does not enrol anyone in a study. Any participant testing requires separate arrangements and applicable permissions.
For dealers & speech therapists
Can dealers become research partners?
We welcome AAC dealers, speech therapists and research organisations interested in exploring our early MindClick platform. Proposed research examines control signals, electrode configurations, usability and customisation needs. Participant testing requires an agreed research framework and the applicable regulatory, ethics and consent arrangements. Early kits are not offered for routine patient care or onward patient supply.
What questions could a research collaboration explore?
Potential research questions include facial activation, trained EEG control, electrode configurations, intended clicks, false activations, repeatability, usability and effort. A protocol and the applicable permissions must be agreed before testing participants.
Is the demonstrator kit a finished solution for every patient?
No. The prototype is not available for routine patient care or onward patient supply. Research findings may inform future design; they do not establish medical-device conformity or guarantee a suitable end-user solution.
How do we arrange training, support and pricing?
Contact our team with your organisation, country and research setting. We will discuss scope, responsibilities, permitted configuration, training, support and any costs. Research supply and participant testing remain conditional on the applicable arrangements and permissions.
Voice software, demos & contact
Can I preserve my own voice?
MindBank supports voice recording and storage. MindVoice lets you explore a personalised voice based on your recordings for use with the communication software.
Can I try the software or book a demonstration?
The voice-software portal remains accessible. Contact us for a prototype demonstration or a research discussion. The integrated MindSpeaker/MindClick medical communication configuration is not available for routine patient use.
How do I book at REHACARE?
Use the REHACARE calendar to book a 30-minute prototype introduction at Hall 05, Stand 5A28, on 23–26 September 2026. Booking is not study enrolment or confirmation of eligibility for individual device testing. For other dates or research enquiries, use our contact form.
